Schwinn 430 Elliptical Review
Ellipticals are great for a low-impact, full-body workout and that is probably the main reason I started looking for one to use at home. In my search I looked at a lot of ellipticals (I mean A LOT) and the Schwinn 430 Elliptical Machine is one that really stood out for me. It is a quality machine that is packed with all the latest technology features. I also quite like the way that it looks. This machine is best suited for beginners and intermediate users who want a quality elliptical for a great price. Read on to find out more about what I like about the Schwinn 430 Elliptical Machine and also what is not so great about it.
Cool Looking Console
One of the things that jumped out at me when I first saw the Schwinn 430 was the digital console/monitor. It is definitely one of the more attractive consoles that I have seen on an elliptical machine. As it turns out, it’s pretty easy to use as well. Plus it has some features that you won’t find on the average elliptical console monitor. For example, you can actually charge USB devices like your mobile via the Schwinn 430’s console while you workout; I think that’s a pretty nifty feature. You will no longer have the excuse of having to stop working out because your phone battery died, taking with it your motivational workout music. That USB port can also be used for recording your workout data and keeping track of your progress. Another thing that I like about the Schwinn 430 Elliptical Machine is that you can upload the workout data that you record from the machine to MyFitnessPal or the SchwinnConnect website to see how you are progressing with your workouts.
It has a high tech two-LCD window system that will allow you to see as many as 13 sets of workout data at the same time! Color me impressed. Most of the monitor displays that I am used to using will only show one set of data at a time instead of thirteen. Apart from the expected time, distance, and speed data you will normally find on an elliptical monitor, you will also find 22 workout programs. That should be enough to keep your workouts interesting and challenging. There is also a wide platform on the console where you can keep your tablet or phone while you work out. I would use it to hold my iPad so that I can watch videos on YouTube or maybe some TV shows on Netflix while I get in some cardio.
Good Looking Machine
A far as ellipticals go the Schwinn 430 Elliptical Machine is undoubtedly a beautiful machine. The solid black color with just a hint of red gives it a sophisticated, professional look. Definitely a workout machine that I wouldn’t mind leaving out on display in my living room. It has that “I am serious about my workout” look that will give your guests the impression that you work out regularly, even if you actually don’t. If you really don’t use it, be sure to clean it up every once in awhile, as dust on your workout machine is a dead giveaway that you are not the exercise buff people think you are. Of course I recommend that you actually use your Schwinn 430 Elliptical Machine and don’t let it become just another piece of unused workout equipment that you sometimes find handy as a clothes hanger.
Stereo Sound For Your Music
I like working out at home because I get to watch my favorite TV shows or listen to the music that I am in the mood for, instead of whatever they happen to be playing at the gym. The Schwinn 430 Elliptical Machine seems to be a great choice for music lovers in particular, because it comes with acoustic chamber speakers that will give you great sound quality. So you can turn up the volume to your favorite workout music and work up a sweat in your living room with this elliptical. I just hope your walls are thick enough to keep the music from disturbing your neighbors. Unless of course, your neighbors love the same songs you do; in that case you may be able to host a workout party with the Schwinn 430 Elliptical Machine at the center of it all. Or maybe not.
Flexible Workout Options
The Schwinn 430 Elliptical Machine will give you the flexibility of focusing on a lower-body, upper-body or full-body workout. It has both moving and fixed handlebars; you will be able to engage your upper body by using the moving handlebars during your workout, or you can use only the fixed bars for support while you work out your lower body. The handle bars also have a built-in heart rate monitor for those of us who like to keep track of our pulse rate throughout a workout session.
You will have your choice of 20 different levels of resistance on the Schwinn 430 Elliptical Machine, and that is good for you to keep your workouts challenging. With such a wide range of resistance levels, even those in prime physical condition should be able to find a level to challenge them. The resistance on this elliptical comes from a magnetic eddy current brake system; this type of technology is known to be low-maintenance, smooth, and quiet.
Weighing in at a whopping 180 pounds, the Schwinn 430 is not an exercise machine that you will want to move around a lot. Actually, if you do get one I think you would be better off keeping it in a location where you can leave it after you use it without having to put it away for storage. Needless to say, for people like me who live in small apartments it may be a task to find enough space for this elliptical. In the event that you do need to move it, however, it does have transport wheels that you can use to push it to wherever you need it to go.
I think the monitor console is the star feature on the Schwinn 430 Elliptical Machine. It has all the latest technology, and it is beautiful and easy to use. There are other good features as well, like its ergonomical design, integrated fan, and quiet performance. It may not be the easiest machine to move around (although the wheels do help) but if you are looking for a stationary elliptical machine for your home the Schwinn 430 Elliptical Machine is one that I would surely recommend you consider.
